Boris Johnson will today publish the Government’s assessment of the impact of Covid-19 tiers on health and the economy, as he faces down a backbench revolt on the measures.
The Prime Minister faces a furious rebellion from Tory MPs whose constituencies are set to be plunged into strict coronavirus rules on Thursday.
Reports suggest between 60 and 100 MPs could refuse to back the measures when they’re brought before the Commons on Wednesday.
The PM has already promised a ‘sunset clause’ for the new rules - meaning MPs will get a second vote in January to extend them beyond February 3.
