Bomb squad called to Scots harbour after unexploded device found

Bomb squads were called to a Scots harbour after an unexploded bomb was brought up from the sea bed by a boat.Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers raced to Western Harbour, Granton, in Edinburgh on Friday.

Cops raced to the scene after receiving the alarm at 10.30pm.It emerged that the device was brought up by a vessel. The boat was evacuated as a precaution.The item was safely deposited by the EOD unit on the seabed.

A controlled explosion is expected to take place today.A spokesperson for Police Scotland told our sister title, Edinburgh Live: "Around 10.30pm on Friday, 27 December, 2024 we received a report that an unexploded ordnance device had been discovered in the Firth of Forth near to Western Harbour.

The device was discovered after a boat was dredging the water. The boat was evacuated as a precaution."HM Coastguard and EOD were contacted.
