Churchgate had been closed over weekends to allow people to sit outside at bars, restaurants and cafes but will now be reopened to cars.
However, Nelson Square will remain closed to traffic from Thursday-Sunday each week to allow more outdoor space. Venues across the town have applied for pavement licences to begin serving customers as the lockdown rules are eased.
