Bogus workmen steal four-figure sum and jewellery from 81-year-old West Lothian woman

Three bogus workmen have conned an 81-year-old woman out of a large sum of money after claiming to be from the water board.Officers are appealing for witnesses after the incident that happened in Seafield on Sunday.Between 5pm and 5.10pm, the 81-year-old woman answered her door in Seafield Rows to three men who told her they were from the water board and had to check pipes.The men entered the house and each went into different rooms.

A short time later the woman confronted the men when she became suspicious of them.They left the house and she discovered a quantity of jewellery and a four-figure sum of cash was missing.The first suspect is described as white aged 30-40 years, 5ft 10ins in height and of slim build.
