Bob Geldof has said that he doesn’t think Live Aid would be able to happen in 2020. Nearly 30 years ago, the rocker, 68, launched Live Aid to tackle famine in Ethiopia.
He organised a star-studded dual benefit concert that was televised in 1985 to raise funds for famine relief. It took place at both London’s Wembley Stadium and Philadephia’s JFK Stadium and saw multiple music legends take to the stage to perform, including Queen, Madonna, Elton John, David Bowie, Phil Collins, U2, Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger and Tina Turner.
It raised a huge $127million (£100,247,450) but Boomtown Rats star Bob thinks that it would be impossible to host another Live Aid nowadays.
