Blade thug tried to 'stab' terrified Ayr shop worker over £30 as she held up shopping basket as a shield

Ayrshire shop worker as she held up a shopping basket to protect herself during a robbery of £30.Mrs Singh's life was put in danger during a terrifying ordeal where a man used a bladed item to threaten her in a violent Sunday morning robbery in Ayr.The terrified worker was on the till at Woodfield Stores when a man wearing a mask and hood up approached her before brandishing what's believed to be a knife around 8.20am on August 15.

The man ordered Mrs Singh to empty the till while holding the blade up towards her.But the brave worker who has run the shop with her husband on Prestwick Road for almost 20 years refused to hand over cash.Instead she pressed the panic alarm as the thug tried to jump the counter.
