Bill Sammon Named SVP, Washington D.C. Editorial Content for Nexstar’s Hill, NewsNation

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Bill Sammon, a veteran of Washington D.C. media outlets and a former longtime senior editorial executive at Fox News Channel, has been named a senior vice president at Nexstar Media, where he will oversee news coverage of the nation’s capital for both The Hill and NewsNation, two of the company’s media properties.

Sammon, who left Fox News in 2021 after the outlet came under scrutiny for making an early call for President Joe Biden’s victory in Arizona in the 2020 presidential election, was recently tapped to help out with NewsNation’s coverage of the 2024 race.

He served as a liaison with Decision Desk HQ, a voter-data analysis firm that guided NewsNation on the calls it made during Election Night.

The outlet was the first mainstream news netweork to call the election for former President Donald Trump. “We are excited to have Bill on board,” said Cherie Grzech, president of news and politics for NewsNatio, in a statement. “Bill’s impeccable credentials as a journalist are renowned, and he is the perfect leader to oversee the combined newsgathering operations of The Hill and NewsNation in Washington, D.C.
