By David Robb Labor Editor Hollywood’s Big 3 talent agencies told a federal judge today that the WGA’s discovery demands for thousands of documents “has been independently challenged by the difficulties associated with remote discovery caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.” WME, CAA and UTA, which have been locked in a yearlong legal battle with the guild over packaging fees, made that point today in a reply to the WGA’s opposition to their motion for a temporary stay in the discovery process.
The agencies, which previously had petitioned U.S. District Court Judge Andre Birotte Jr. to dismiss all the guild’s antitrust claims, had asked three weeks ago for a temporary discovery stay until he rules on their motion to dismiss – saying that
