Bendable concrete that can withstand earthquakes tested in amazing video

This “earthquake-proof” concrete has been filmed being bent by a mechanised weight in an astonishing video. In the clip, a slab of regular concrete is pushed downwards by a massive weight but refuses to budge until it suddenly shatters into pieces.

Put to the same test, the bendable concrete is shown to dramatically change shape which enables it to hold firm against the increasing pressure.

When the weight is removed, the slab slowly springs back to its original shape. It’s hoped this material could be used to make “earthquake-proof” homes in places along dangerous fault lines.
