There used to be one of those cheesy American shows, the kind usually shown on rainy Sunday afternoons, that involved a masked magician showing how the tricks were done.Some big lad would reveal all about sawing assistants in half and vanishing in to thin air, showing viewers how it was all smoke and mirrors and so on.
It’s not on any more so the Magic Circle probably put a hit out on the guy, but it was a decent wee watch back in the day. At least at first.
After a while it just got a bit frustrating as seeing the nuts and bolts of the tricks took away all of the magic.Sometimes it’s better not to know.
When it comes to football though, taking a peak behind the curtains and seeing how it all works can be priceless. Over in Japan Celtic invited fans in for a couple of open training sessions – and there was no need for Brendan Rodgers to wear a mask.The Hoops boss showed off some of his party pieces and while it was fascinating to see him in action, the whole show lost none of its magic.
