Celtic have announced the signing of Gustaf Lagerbielke on a five-year deal. The £3million centre-back joins from Elfsborg and goes straight into the thinking of Brendan Rodgers for his assault on the Champions League and another domestic Treble.
Experienced in both central defensive positions, Lagerbielke will provide Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Narowcki with serious competition and is poised to give better balance to the backline. The 23-year-old is Rodgers’ fifth signing of the summer following the captures of Odin Thiago Holm, Marco Tilio, Yang and Kwon – but he won’t be the last.
A delighted Lagerbielke said: "It feels really good, and I’m really excited and proud to be here. The first thing you think of when you hear the name ‘Celtic’ is obviously the fans, this stadium and the atmosphere the fans create here.
And also, all the good players who have played here and who are playing here now, so I’m really excited to play with them and hopefully win a lot of games and titles.”Rodgers isn’t finished there, however.
