Just days after returning to public duties, King Charles made a surprise appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, a cherished event long favoured by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.The monarch, sporting a bright smile despite the rain, toured the showgrounds on Friday 3 May.The annual show held a special place in the late Queen's heart, with her attending almost every year since her childhood until her passing in 2022.The Royal Family's connection to the show runs deep.
Prince Philip, the Queen's late husband, actively participated in the carriage driving competitions until his retirement in 2003.
More recently, their granddaughter, Lady Louise Windsor, has followed in their footsteps, competing at the event. Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, were also present at this year's show, reports the Mirror.
Charles was seen beaming as he hugged his niece, Zara Tindall, at the event.The pair embraced and shared a few words when they met on the site as the persistent rain continued to fall.
