BBC radio presenter Gordon Sparks has sadly died at the age of 61 following his cancer battle as emotional tributes for the late broadcaster flood in.The beloved BBC radio host was best known for presenting BBC Radio Devon's early morning breakfast show.He also went on to commentate on Plymouth Argyle football games for more than 32 years after being an avid fan of his local football club for a number of years.READ MORE: Steve Irwin's cameraman exposes Crocodile Hunter's last words before tragic deathThe presenter - known to his close friends as Sparksy - first announced his cancer diagnosis back in May.Loving presenter Gordon was being treated for cancer at St Luke's Hospice in the heart of Plymouth before his tragic death on Monday (October 17).

Tributes have since started to pour in online, with many branding the late disc jockey "the voice of Plymouth Argyle". Close friend and fellow station presenter Angela Kalwaites penned: "We will all miss out friend and colleague so much - he was definitely one-of-a-kind with a massive heart and a sense of humour." Stephanie Marshall - who is the head of BBC South and South West - added: "It is a very sad day for BBC Radio Devon.

Our hearts go out to Gordon's friends, family and faithful listeners."Gordon was a broadcasting legend - honest and brave through the toughest times.

He will be missed dearly."BBC have recently reported how fans sung Sparks' name during Plymouth's victory at MK Dons on Saturday to mark his passing.
