BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty swiftly jumped in to correct a statement made by her co-star this morning and issued him with a warning.
Naga and her co-host Ben Thompson had just wrapped up discussing the weather forecast for Christmas when the warning came. "I hate to burst someone's bubble, but no white Christmas this year," Naga said sadly, as Ben chimed in with: "No snowball fights." The pair then turned to the BBC's lead weatherman Simon King, who joined them to delve into the Winter Solstice, mentioning it was Naga's "favourite day". "No white Christmas, it has been mild, but listen I know this is your favourite day of the year, isn't it?" Simon began, gesturing toward Naga as she enthusiastically confirmed "Today is!" as Simon confirmed that: "It's the Winter Solstice - and it's the shortest day." However, before Simon could proceed with his weather update, Naga intervened with a clarification and warning: "You know the pedants get in touch.
It's not the shortest day," she said sternly. Simon corrected himself by stating, "It's the shortest amount of daylight," which met with Naga's approval, reports the Express.
Simon then detailed the hours of daylight each region could expect, ranging from six-and-a-half hours in northern Scotland to eight hours in south west England.
