BBC Antiques Roadshow fans floored as expert reveals ink pen is worth whopping £25K

Antiques Roadshow fans were left floored after the hefty value of a pen was revealed on the show. Sunday's instalment (July 24) of the BBC show welcomed a woman who brought an old ink pen and pencil with her to be valued.

The woman revealed the Japanese pen came from her late husband who had a particular interest in antiques, more specifically "small, interesting items, particularly of oriental origin."READ MORE: BBC Antiques Roadshow fans floored as £16 art unveiled as 'African currency' worth £600An expert revealed the pen was made in Japan in the 1930's by a company called the Namiki Manufactures which was founded in 1915.He went on to say that these types of pens were "different" because they were covered in "lacquer."The expert confirmed that at auction, the pencil would be worth three to five thousand pounds, maybe seven if it "captured" a collectors eye.The woman seemed shocked by the high value but went into further shock when the expert revealed the value of the pen."The pen, maybe 20 thousand pounds, but it's in such good condition, and it's in such wonderful quality lacquer, it could go to 30 thousand pounds," he explained.Lost for words, the shocked woman simply said: "Good gracious.
