Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger says Reds academy graduates Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard showed their quality from the moment they broke through to the first-team.

All three of the current United squad emerged in the men's squad during the German World Cup winners stint at Old Trafford. The Reds have a rich history of bringing through world-class talent, like the Class of 92, with a number of graduates currently in Ralf Rangnick's squad.

And Schweinsteiger says from the moment they made the jump, their quality was abundantly clear and has called for more opportunities to be presented to the up and coming prospects. "I tell you one thing: when I was with [Jose] Mourinho and training with the second team and Under-16 team with United, I saw a lot of good players,” the 37-year-old told the UTD Podcast. "One was Scott McTominay, and I thought he will make it for sure, he had those abilities.

So United has a good youth team - you just need to use them and give them the time to develop. "I remember Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard when Louis van Gaal was coach.
