Agusti Benedito has become the latest Barcelona presidential candidate to admit that they will not be able to financially compete, if the top clubs in Europe come for Lionel Messi.
The talismanic Argentinian has just months remaning on his deal at the Camp Nou and will be a free agent at the end of the current season.
Messi positioned himself for an exit earlier this summer, only to remain with the Catalan giants for what looks to be, one final season.
The club are currently in the midst of their presidential elections after Josep Bartomeu announced his resignation. Several of the men in the running have suggested that Messi’s issues are not financial, claiming they will not match the financial packages on offer elsewhere.
