After months of instability and speculation, and two days of absolute chaos, Boris Johnson is finally throwing in the towel.
The Prime Minister is quitting after a tsunami of resignations from the government over 48 hours, kicked off by Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
Initially, Mr Johnson was defiant about staying on, suggesting that the large majority he won for the Tories in 2019 was a mandate that overruled his fellow MPs, and threatening to call a General Election.
But, this morning, he admitted the writing was on the wall, and announced that he was going, though he intends to stay on until the autumn.
