The next Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader will be announced on September 5. The new leader will be revealed as MPs return to parliament following the summer recess.
Today, Wednesday July 20, the top three Tory candidates were whittled down to two following the Conservative MPs' final ballot vote.
The race is now between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss. The choice will now be in the hands of the 160,000 Conservative Party members.
