Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is expected to delve into the transfer market in January with his rebuild not going to plan at the moment.
The Gunners have lost five of their 10 Premier League games, and are languishing in the bottom half of the table ahead of Sunday's north London derby against leaders Tottenham.
Arteta's side are lacking creativity in the final third, with the manager having been criticised in some quarters for his decision to leave Mesut Ozil out of his Premier League squads.
The Spaniard is expected to therefore renew his pursuit of Lyon's attacking midfielder Houssem Aouar - although with finances tight, Arsenal could look for cheaper alternatives.
