Three Scotsmen who travelled to the Home Counties, dressed themselves in police uniforms and broke into a house brandishing two guns and a knife were starting long prison sentences today.The trio, who all have homes in Scotland, were sentenced for aggravated burglary and a firearms offences.A judge heard the terrifying raid happened in June last year but the gang left one of the firearms behind at the scene in Slough, Berks.
All three were arrested soon after.Ian Scott, aged 31 years, of Lyle Square, Milngavie, Liam Bainbridge, aged 35 years, of Orbiston Place, Clydebank and Michael McCoogan, aged 34 years, of Whitehill Crescent, Clydebank were each sentenced to nine years in jail by a judge at Reading Crown Court.A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "On June 21 last year, Scott, Bainbridge and Mccoogan dressed as police officers and entered a property on Spackmans Way, Slough with two firearms and a knife."The victims defended themselves and the three men left the scene empty-handed, leaving a firearm behind.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Kerry Woods, based at Slough police station, added: "Tragic events show just how dangerous these weapons are to innocent members of the public and I am glad they were seized before they were able to cause devastating harm."I hope that Scott, Bainbridge and Mccogan will use their time in prison productively and reflect on their actions."
