A session musician who had inherited a guitar that used to belong to John Lennon and George Harrison was stunned at how much it was worth when he got it valued on Antiques Roadshow last night – breaking the BBC1 show's 25-year record.
The guitar, valued at £400,000, has not only an interesting history but is a one-of-kind rarity – a prototype fretless guitar made by Bartell’s of California in the 1960s.
In that period, it was said that one of these guitars was given to Jimi Hendrix and the other to John Lennon. Probing this guitar's famous history, Antiques Roadshow expert Jon Baddeley asked Ray, its current owner, how it came into his possession.
