Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s fight must take place within the next 18 months or it risks never happening. The events promoter, 73, has stressed that the eagerly-anticipated potential fight between Joshua and Fury must take place quickly or not at all.
Speaking to The Sun as part of his autobiography promotion, Hearn said that he feels the fight will eventually go ahead - but things can’t be left until the last minute.“I believe it will happen,” he said. "I believe the inevitability of what is being created, the demand for those fights, means eventually it has to happen.
I just don’t know when. We should have had it already. However much money is involved. I’d imagine it should happen in the next 12-18 months – if it doesn’t I don’t think it will ever happen.
He continued: "Of course, these people won’t be rushing to the retirement home for the next few years. We are creating a group that is similar to what we saw in the American days of Ali-Frazier-Foreman-Spinks.” Joshua is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in July in his rematch following his defeat at the hands of the Ukraine fighter in September.
