A secondary school has closed 'with immediate effect' amid the coronavirus pandemic. Parents with children at Fred Longworth High School, in Tyldesley, Wigan, were told the school is closing from today.
It is not yet known how long the school intends to remain shut, but it does not appear to be a two-day cleaning closure that has been happening elsewhere.
In a letter to parents, the school said: "We have taken the decision to close the school to students with immediate effect pending PHE advice. "More information will follow later today.
