Andy Burnham: 'Ending shielding while imposing a local lockdown was inhumane'

Speaking at today's Greater Manchester coronavirus press conference Mr Burnham said the move sent a 'very big mixed message and puts people in a distressing and unfair situation'.
He added: "It was very unfortunate that we had the announcement then the removal of shielding almost within 24 hours."What were people who had been shielding for months in Greater Manchester to make of that?"They're being told there's new risk out there and that people should stay in their households, but within hours they're told it's fine and we're going to.
