Andy Burnham has called on the government to change the shielding policy in Greater Manchester TODAY after saying he was unable to explain the thinking behind it.
In an exchange on Twitter, the region's mayor said the policy should have been extended in areas subject to new restrictions.He called on the government to correct the error, which has left many people feeling confused and fearful.Greater Manchester, parts of Lancashire and West Yorkshire have been made subject to targeted lockdown measures, following a spike in cases of Covid-19.The infection rate has risen in nine out of the ten boroughs - some dramatically - over the course of the last week.Despite this, the guidance has been relaxed so that clinically extremely vulnerable.
