Amber Ruffin Canceled as White House Correspondents Dinner Performer

Amber Ruffin is no longer performing at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this year. The upcoming event, which is being held on April 26th, will move continue without a featured performer this year, according to THR.

Back in February, Amber was announced as the performer, with the White House Correspondents’ Association president saying she was at the top of his list for this year. Keep reading to find out more… “At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists,” White House Correspondents’ Association president Eugene Daniels said in a note to members of the association.

THR reports that members of the White House team have expressed criticism of Amber being picked, suggesting they should rethink the decision.

The decision to no longer have her perform was reportedly unanimous among the WHCA board and it’s been in the works for a few weeks.
