John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

metro.co.ukAmber Heard described ex-husband Johnny Depp as ‘nuts’ in a text to her mum in 2013, the High Court has heard.In the closing stages of Depp’s libel trial against The Sun’s publishers News Group Newspapers (NGN), Sasha Wass QC, representing NGN, referred to a ‘painting incident’ between the former couple which is said to have happened when the actor took exception to a picture in Heard’s house painted by her ex Tasya van Ree.Heard refused to remove the painting and alleged that Depp tried to set fire to it with a cigarette lighter.
When she tried to stop him, Wass told the court, Depp allegedly slapped her with the back of his hand, accused her of having an affair, grabbed her, shook her and shoved her into a wall.Wass added in her closing.
