After being amongst the Premier League's biggest spenders during the summer transfer window, all eyes will be on Manchester United to see if they invest further in the squad in January.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News , the club is set to prioritise trying to sign a new defensive-minded midfielder to try and bolster interim manager Ralf Rangnick's options in the centre of midfield.
Rangnick, so far, has adopted a 4-2-2-2 formation at Old Trafford, meaning United play with two deep-lying midfielders and two advanced playmakers.
Whilst Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho have, so far, cemented themselves as the advanced midfield pairing, Scott McTominay and Fred have sat a little deeper, helping United to two Premier League wins
