The lockdown rules in England will change on Monday. On March 29, limits on social gatherings and sports outdoors will be relaxed - 12 weeks after the national lockdown was first introduced in January.

It follows part one of Step 1 in Boris Johnson's lockdown roadmap, which began on March 8. This first stage saw all schoolchildren return to classrooms, and some university students on practical courses resume face-to-face learning.

Meeting with one other person outdoors for recreation purposes, such as a picnic, was also permitted from this date. So too were care home visits from one regular visitor, who must be tested beforehand.
