All hail Camilla, the new queen of the jumpsuit
telegraph.co.ukthe opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. At first glance, it looked like she was in a long navy dress, but on closer inspection it became clear that the Duchess had made a foray into lesser-explored senior royal fashion territory by wearing a jumpsuit.
Now, given that jumpsuits were formerly known as either boiler suits or catsuits (and therefore essentially unwearable for anyone over 30) there is something rather amusing about the idea of our future Queen zipping one up.Except that this design not only looks entirely appropriate but undeniably elegant.
Perhaps it’s the wide leg cut, or the deep navy hue, but either way this tailored piece by Anna Valentine is a good example of how jumpsuits can be modern yet timeless, and flattering on women of all ages.
Valentine is one of Camilla’s go-to couturiers and it’s not the first time she’s been photographed in this particular jumpsuit – we’ve seen it before on a tour of New Zealand in 2019, because much like the Duchess of Cambridge, Camilla regularly re-wears her favourite pieces.
