Alexandra Burke breaks down as she explains why she's keeping baby's gender and name secret

The X Factor star Alexandra Burke appeared on Loose Women today (October 10) in her first TV appearance since giving birth to her first child in July.

Joining panellists Ruth Langsford, Katie Piper, Janet Street Porter and Jane Moore, the singer, 34, became emotional as she revealed the reason she's decided to keep her new baby's name and gender out of the news.

Ruth, 62, said: "You've haven't revealed the name or the gender of the baby, tell people why?" Alexandra took a deep breath and said: "I've never really spoken about this but obviously I come from X Factor and that's a public show and I'm very grateful for the platform, it's made me who I am today." The star continued with her voice cracking: "I hate getting emotional talking about this but I asked for all this, my family never." She then had to take a pause as the Loose Women hosts hosts comforted her before continuing: "The impact on them is hard.

And I want to protect the baby as much as I can." Alexandra welcomed her first child with her footballer fiancé Darren Randolph, 35, in July.
