Airdrie distillery set for move as Lidl bids to build on site

a 1900 square-metre store and 200-space car park, plus two further retail units.Formerly known as Burn Stewart until being purchased by its current owners in 2013, the Airdrie distillery has been in operation for three decades and blends whisky brands including Scottish Leader.Its 12 members of staff will all be relocating from the Carlisle Road premises to the new East Kilbride facility, which will provide warehouse space for up to 47,000 casks.

A spokesperson for Distell International told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “Our people in Airdrie have been taking part in a training programme to ensure they are upskilled ahead of the new facility being complete at the end of December.
