Kai Havertz is now a Chelsea player and continues an excellent summer of recruitment at Stamford Bridge. His big money move from Bayer Leverkusen has been in the pipeline for weeks and was announced on Friday night.

It means Frank Lampard has yet more attacking talent from which to choose from having already added Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

The Blues, despite their transfer ban, were hardly short of firepower last term. Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were among the names available to Lampard when fit.
