After six years as the voice of travel on Breakfast, beloved BBC Radio 2 star Richie Anderson has announced an emotional departure from the show.

Overcome with emotion on Thursday 19 December, Richie got teary-eyed while chatting to his close pal and colleague Zoe Ball, expressing immense gratitude for their time together: "I have had the most amazing six years on this show.

It has been so much fun, and I have loved every single second of it." He didn’t hold back his affection for the team as he continued, "It has been so amazing to come here and be accepted by you (Zoe), Tina (Daheley) and the producers." Richie reminisced about their first meeting, recalling the warmth he received: "I remember when I met Zoe for the first time in the dressing room at It Takes Two, she came in with hugs and it was like I'd known you forever and you have been the most amazing friend." Fans needn’t worry – Richie isn’t moving far.

A spokesperson shared the exciting news that he’s not leaving the Radio 2 family; he's just switching things up: "From January, Richie Anderson will be waving goodbye to the early alarm call as he moves to afternoons on Radio 2," reports the Express.
