Zig Zag Unveils Soccer Climate Change Docuseries ‘Playing for Our Future’ and Tottenham Hotspur-Set Season of ‘The Football Academy’

Jamie Lang Zig Zag has announced two new long-form commissions as part of its rebranded slate: the TNT Sports documentary “Playing for Our Future” and the return of “The Football Academy,” this time set in the Tottenham Hotspur youth system, for the BBC. “These two commissions perfectly embody the bold storytelling and creative vision at the heart of Zig Zag from addressing global challenges to celebrating human ambition and talent, this is just the beginning of our new era,” said Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton of the day’s news.

In partnership with discovery+ and TNT Sports, “Playing for Our Future” explores the impact of climate change on sports. Funded by energy supplier Utilita and produced with Infinitum Entertainment and AMS Media Group, the documentary will include additional content across digital and social platforms, covering football, rugby, cricket, cycling, and motorsport.

Directed by Dan Riley and executive produced by Danny Fenton and Matt Graff, the documentary will premiere on April 1, 2025, at 10:30 p.m.

on TNT Sports 1 and stream on discovery+. Hosted by Reshmin Chowdhury, the film examines how extreme weather affects both grassroots and elite sports, featuring insights from athletes and climate experts.
