Emily Longeretta The Miami Film Festival, produced by Miami Dade College, is set to honor “Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey during the 2025 festival, set for April 3-13.
Lynskey will receive the Precious Gem Award on April 12. Following the presentation, she will be part of a conversation about her career.
The award honors those who stand out in the field, and have a lasting contribution to cinema. Past recipients include Pedro Almodóvar, Ramin Bahrani, Penélope Cruz, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, Isabelle Huppert, Rita Moreno, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Sebastian Stan. “We are so excited to honor the incredible talent of Melanie Lynskey at the 2025 Miami Film Festival,” says Miami Film Festival programming director Lauren Cohen. “Her nuanced and captivating portrayal of Shauna in ‘Yellowjackets’ elevates the show’s stakes to an entirely new level.
We are absolutely thrilled to be able to celebrate Melanie Lynskey’s remarkable career in Miami this year.” Lynskey, who made her film debut in 1994’s “Heavenly Creatures,” currently plays Shauna on Season 3 of “Yellowjackets,” a performance for which she’s earned two Emmy nominations, a Critics Choice Award and a Gotham Award.
