'World's toughest shark' fans convinced 'badass' great white battled Megaladon - and won

great white shark is at the top of the ocean's food chain and can probably lay claim (rightly or wrongly) to being the most feared creature on earth.However, one video shows that these fearsome apex predators aren't immune to damage themselves.In the short video, a humungous shark can be seen swimming along near the Neptune Islands in South Australia sporting massive scars along its side - which some people have hypothesised could only come from something bigger, specifically a Megalodon.The Megaladon was an ancient shark species that is thought to be one of the largest and most powerful predators to have ever lived.The creatures are essentially great white's on steroids and have fortunately been extinct for millions of years.However, there is a baffling school of thought that some Megaladon still lurk in the sea and some have suggested the shark's injuries could have come from an encounter.Underwater cinematographer Dean Spraakman, who captured the incredible footage during an expedition in January 2021, said the 11ft male was incredibly 'friendly'.He claimed the team could not be certain of what may have caused these marks as no one had come across a shark so badly injured before.Dean said they initially thought the scars might have been done by boat propellers or perhaps the shark had been caught in the tuna pens in the area but they quickly dismissed both theories.Meanwhile, in the comments section of the video, social media users have been furiously speculating the cause.One opined: "He looks like he lived, fought and won every battle since the Cretaceous period."Another said the shark had probably acquired street cred: "That's just badass.
