A World Cup security worker is in intensive care after a "serious fall" while on duty at the Lusail Stadium. Qatar's Supreme Committee responsible for the organising of the 2022 tournament said an urgent investigation is taking place into the "circumstances leading to the fall".
The incident occurred after Argentina's quarter-final win against the Netherlands and one observer reported the fall was from a "significant height", according to the Guardian.
The worker is reportedly in a "stable but critical" condition and will continue to be paid while he is in recovery. The Lusail Stadium is Qatar's flagship arena and was one of several to be built explicitly for the 2022 World Cup.
The Supreme Committee said in a statement: "On Saturday December 10, a security guard at Lusail Stadium suffered a serious fall while on duty.
