Jason Cummings was in the Dundee doldrums at the start of this year – and he looks set to end it with a feud involving France's all-time leading goalscorer Olivier Giroud. The former Hibs and Rangers striker capped off a memorable year after moving to the A-League with Central Coast Mariners by featuring at the World Cup in Qatar for Australia.
He came up against eventual runners-up France in the group stage and claimed that AC Milan star Giroud snubbed his request to swap shirts as he didn't speak English - despite a lengthy career in the Premier League. But in a veiled Twitter post, the 36-year-old displayed Ross County hero Jackson Irvine's shirt from the match with the caption 'Hi Jackson Irvine, how's my English mate?' in a nod seemingly towards Cummings' comments.
He said of the incident: “So when I was walking back to my changing room and I’ve seen Giroud and I’m walking, as handsome as ever."I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt man?
I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?’ And he just walked past me."He pretended he never spoke English and he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years! (laughing).
