A woman was left "very distressed" after she was sexually assaulted during a shocking broad daylight attack in Airdrie.The 26-year-old victim was walking on the footpath that connects the town's Raebog Road, the Rushes housing estate and Stirling Road at 3.30pm on Sunday, when she was approached from behind by a man who then assaulted her before running off towards Dykehead Road and the Rushes.The suspect is described as white, with a pale complexion, in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with short gingery brown hair and scruffy ginger facial hair.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Detective Constable David Forde, of Coatbridge CID, told Lanarkshire Live : "Although the lady didn’t require medical assistance, this assault was very distressing for her. “Officers are checking CCTV in the area and carrying out enquiries to trace the man responsible and would ask that anyone who recognises the description of the man, or who may have seen someone fitting the description in the area either before or after the incident time to come forward.” Details can be passed to officers at Coatbridge CID via 101, quoting reference number 2147 of Sunday, June 12,
