A woman paid almost £900 for a pet detective after her beloved cat escaped through a window and went missing for 40 days. Student Katie Carr, 24, was living at her parents' home in Manchester when her pet cat Winston managed to get out through a window.

A distraught Katie then enlisted the help of a professional detective, forking out nearly £900 in a desperate bid to find him.

Despite three days of searching, the detective was unable to find Winston, prompting Katie to print out posters and search the streets herself as well as making a number of desperate appeals for help on social media. What they did was so bad nobody else would treat me' 40 days later, Katie received a phone call from a vet 12 miles away in Bolton, informing her that Winston had been found in a woman's garden on October 15 and had been taken to the vet, where his microchipped was scanned.
