A woman dragged off the street at knifepoint and raped by one of Scotland’s most dangerous sex offenders has slammed the “soft touch” justice system that allows him to repeatedly reoffend.Vicky Maclean was 19 when she was attacked by John McDougall as she made her way home from work in Irvine, Ayrshire, in 2000.She has never spoken of her ordeal until now, saying she has been forced to watch her rapist “make a mockery” of the justice system for more than two decades.McDougall was released five years after the sex attack on Vicky and has gone on to carry out a series of further offences and breaches of a court order not to approach women.Vicky, 44, bravely waived her right to anonymity to call for tougher sentences for repeat offenders like McDougall as he was jailed again for being caught in a vulnerable woman’s home.She told the Record: “This is one of Scotland’s most dangerous men, yet he is still being allowed to pose a threat to women.

The punishments he’s being given are not having an impact.“This happened to me over 20 years ago but it feels like we’re still in the exact same place.“The courts show him time and time again there is no real consequence for his actions.“It’s time for justice for victims to fit the crime.”Vicky was walking home from her bar job after being dropped off nearby by a taxi when she was grabbed by McDougall on a well-lit route.She said: “I was meant to finish in time to get the last train home but had to get a taxi and only had enough to the cross in Irvine.“I felt something sharp press against my back and a man’s voice said, ‘If you turn around, I’ll kill you.’“Initially I thought it must be a joke, but that notion quickly vanished when I was dragged to the back of a garage.”Vicky was
