Russell Brand is being sued over sexual abuse allegations in a lawsuit filed in London’s High Court, the first-known lawsuit brought against him in the UK.

The Sun newspaper reports that an anonymous claimant on February 6 lodged a personal injury sexual abuse case for damages. It comes after London’s Metropolitan Police passed evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service.

It is the first-known lawsuit to land in the UK since the comedian turned online broadcaster faced allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, dating between 2006 and 2013, by four separate women in a joint Sunday Times/Channel 4 Dispatches investigation.

When the results of the investigation were published, Brand denied all claims against him, saying that he had never participated in non-consensual sexual behaviour, and the allegations were part of an establishment smear campaign against him.
