A woman has died after being hit by a train at a station in Salford. Emergency services responded to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Eccles at around 7.25pm last night (Monday).
Police and paramedics were called to the scene. Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead. Her death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and a file will be passed to the coroner. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community In a statement, a British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Eccles railway station at 7.25pm on 29 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. "This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner." Following the incident last night, the line was blocked between Eccles and Patricroft as emergency crews responded.
A number of police vehicles were pictured at Eccles station. Samaritans (116 123) samaritans.org operates a 24-hour service available every day of the year.
