Formerly named Kamiyah Mobley, Alexis vanished from a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida in 1998, only hours after 16-year-old Shanara Mobley gave birth to her.Williams pretended to be a nurse at UF Health Jacksonville —previously University Medical Centre — and took little Kamiyah home to South Carolina.Biological mother Shanara finally got answers nearly two decades later in 2017, thanks to America's National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.Registered in the South Carolina city of Walterboro was a woman whose date of birth matched missing Kamiyah's but had a different name and documents.

A DNA test revealed Alexis was in fact Kamiyah Mobley, which led to the imprisonment of Williams for 18 years. Alexis, now 23, has since met her birth parents and remains in touch with them but has launched an appeal to slash her "mother's" jail time.
