A woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of seven-year-old Emily Jones in a Bolton park. Eltiona Skana, 30, appeared in the dock at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning charged with the murder of Emily and possession of a knife.
The seven-year-old girl was stabbed to death when out walking with her family in Queen’s Park, Bolton, on Mother’s Day, March 22.
She was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where she was pronounced dead later that afternoon. An inquest into her death opened at Bolton Coroners' Court last month and was adjourned until Friday July 3.
A post mortem revealed that she died as a result of a wound to the neck. Appearing via videolink, Ms Skana, of Ernest Street in Bolton, spoke only to confirm her name.
