A woman accused of killing her partner in a crash after they left a wedding told police she did not feel responsible for his death.

Alicia Fairclough, 34, is standing trial accused of causing the death of Thomas Benson by dangerous driving, which she denies.

Jurors at the Manchester Crown Court trial have heard that she was driving her partner’s Audi A8 at double the 30mph speed limit at the time of the crash on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich, Bolton.

The couple had just left a wedding at Rivington Barn, on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Prosecutors claim she was driving ‘far too fast’ before crashing into a tree.
