Wishaw MP welcomes end of Mineworkers' Pension Scheme injustice

Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke MP, Pamela Nash, has welcomed the end of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme injustice as former mineworkers in the constituency begin to receive their first increase.Local mineworkers and their families received their first uplifted payments – boosting their pensions by an average of 32 per cent – on Friday, November 29.The payment follows the Labour Government’s reversal of an historic injustice, leading to £1.5 billion being transferred to their pension scheme last month.The annual pensions of around 112,000 former mineworkers and their dependents across the UK will increase by an average of £29 per week for each member.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
