Princess Eugenie tied the knot with her husband Jack Brooksbank exactly five years ago today in a lavish wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
All of the royals were in attendance including Eugenie's close pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as other cousins Prince William and Kate Middleton. It was a rare family get-together for 'the Firm' and the Sussexes used the occasion to announce their own big news, the Mirror reports.Just five months after their own fairytale wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting their first child.Harry revealed in his bombshell memoir Spare how they decided to use the various family gatherings associated with cousin Eugenie's big day to share their own happy news with their relatives. He also recalled how his older brother Prince William reacted when he told him he was going to be an uncle. The duke wrote how he had decided to tell the Prince of Wales after a drinks reception in St George's Hall, when he and Meghan pulled him aside, to which the heir immediately gave a four-word response. He explains: "We whispered the news and Willy smiled and said 'we must tell Kate'.
She was across the room talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted."So we went and told Kate and she also gave us big smile and hearty congratulations.
They both reacted exactly as I'd hoped - as I'd wished."Meghan gave birth to Prince Archie seven months later in May 2019 at the private Portland Hospital in London. The couple famously broke tradition when they decided not to pose for the traditional 'hospital steps' royal photos after the young prince was born. However, Harry gave a spontaneous interview outside Windsor Castle shortly after Archie's birth as he praised his wife.
